What Do I Do When I Am Not Shooting?

This question could be taken in two separate ways. However, I am going to tell you the things I do when I am not doing photography in general as opposed to what all goes into the photography experience than just the shooting part.

So, what do I do when I am not behind the camera? Well, I wear many different hats. I work at a small family-owned insurance company as an Underwriter, as well as a “hobbyist” event planner, and enjoy doing arts & crafts when time calls for it. I know it seems crazy, but I can do it.

Now, when I have time (is that even possible?), I like to do things that involve some type of arts & crafts. This is especially true if I am planning an event and need ideas for a specific theme I have in mind.

I am always perusing Pinterest for ideas when I have a few moments to spare. This is where I get inspiration on things I want to use at an event I am planning and instead of re-inventing the wheel, I put my own spin on it. I would not have been able have the ideas I had if it weren’t for Pinterest-KUDOS to the individual who invented that app!

One other thing I love to do is listen to music – music form the 70’s soothes me something fierce. And no, I’m not just saying this because I was born in the 70’s. I say this because the music back then was meaningful, it had originality and most of all it was promoted to you unlike music today that isn’t, so it does not grab your attention like the latest J. Cole hit.

I’ve recently started purchasing music from this era on vinyl from my local Newbury store. I’m going to age myself here, but I wish they still had the local Strawberries, Sam Goody, Camelot Music, Coconuts, etc. stores around like they did back in the day. I could visit those stores and get lost for hours looking over all the vinyl albums and walking out spending more than I wanted to.  SO, for now, I get lost in the music moment with the volume on my headphone turned up a little more than normal.

I recently came across a gem of a stereo system someone was selling on Facebook Marketplace and I absolutely had to have it since they were letting it go for a steal of a price (less than $100)! Everything is original, and nothing has been replaced, I posted a picture below. As soon as my husband saw this, his initial response was that he felt as though he stepped back into time. It was because he had the same exact stereo when he was younger!

Now that I have shared this with you, I would love to hear what you do in your spare time!
